Let's Go Exploring

Anthony’s Italian Pizza & Pasta

There I was earlier this evening having a conversation with my wife about how Clayton or Garner needed one of those big box chain type Italian restaurants. I can remember myself shouting and shaking my fist at the sky, “I shouldn’t have to drive into Raleigh or Cary!”  Well, I have a couple of pals in town who speak highly of and are regulars at Anthony’s Italian Pizza & Pasta, so tonight we decided to give it a try.

First impressions – the staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is intimate with wonderful mood lighting overhead, and an immaculate dinning room with neatly dressed tables and chairs. The only thing missing were the roses and live violinist! Although something tells me that if you asked in advance they would happily supply that for you! The service was prompt and our waitress was super polite to our children. All huge pluses in my book.

The drinks before dinner

Big thanks to Mike over at Make It A Double for inspiring me to be more open to fine, craft, small batch, artisanal liquors. Now when I enter a business that serves spirits, I make it a point to both see and try something on the bar. Drinks this evening? Of course.  A Jameson then a double of Jack Daniel’s. I will admit there is something relaxing about watching an artisan craft a pizza while I enjoy couple of nice neat drinks.

The Food

This evening my wife ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce while I enjoyed the chicken rollatini. The children had chicken fingers and pizza. My wife, when I asked about her meal said, and I quote, “This is the best spaghetti and meat sauce on this side of town.” Let me tell you something about my wife, she makes a spaghetti and meat sauce that can compete with the best of them, and she won’t eat just anyone’s spaghetti.

With that said there wasn’t much left on her plate after dinner. The chicken, well there wasn’t anything left either! The rollatini was fabulous, so was the sauce and mushrooms, and the potatoes and zucchini were so flavorful. Overall, magnificent meal, best cannoli I’ve ever had! I highly recommend taking someone you love, your family, the team, or even colleagues to Anthony’s Italian Pizza & Pasta – disappointment is not on the menu here.

Appaloosa Festival

My first Appaloosa Festival was INTENSE! I was fortunate to be able to assist with social media at this most recent Appaloosa Festival. The location is the picturesque Front Royal, Virginia, high atop the Appalachian Mountains.

Deep River’s Jorts in July & Axe Throwing Day

I made it to my first Jorts in July event down at Deep River Brewing Company. Over the last year I feel like I’ve really gotten to know a lot of people here.
